- During the ascendance of the Chenla kingdom, centred in southern Laos and northern Cambodia between the 6th and 8th centuries, Luang Prabang became known as Muang Sawa, the Lao rendering of ‘Java’. It is likely this name referred to Javanese sponsorship in Chenla. The Khmer-supported conqueror Fa Ngum consolidated the first Lao kingdom, Lan Xang Hom Khao (Million Elephants, White Parasol), here in 1353.
You are welcomed to Luang Prabang where you are met by a Southern Breeze Travel representative and transferred from the airport to your hotel. The balance of your day is at leisure. In the evening, enjoy strolling through Luang Prabang’s fabulous night market where you can shop and bargain for unique handicrafts, having dinner and overnight in Luang Prabang.
Early morning, you will see long lines of monk in procession. After offering alms visit fresh market which local people go for shopping for daily life. Back to hotel for breakfast, take private car to visit old Royal Palace National Museum, visit Wat Mai, Wat Xiengthong, Wat Sene, Wat Visoun. Take Lao food for lunch at city restaurant.After noon, take private car to visit Kuangsy waterfall the most famous waterfall in Luang Prabang. On the way back visit Hmong village you can buy gifts from villager. Arrived hotel, climb up to Phousy Hill, with its revered shrine, to view the sunset over the Mekong and mountain beyond. Dinner at city restaurant.
After breakfast, Pick up at hotel, take cruise to Pak Ou cave, on the way visit Ban Sanghai which boiling Lao whisky, Lunch at local restaurant near Pak Ou cave. After lunch take cruise back to LPQ, on the way visit Ban Sangkong which making paper and waving Lao fabric. Transfer to airport. End of tour.
